12V / 24V Pool Lighting Transformer

A pool lighting transformer isolates underwater LED fittings from the 220 V mains and feeds them at a safe low voltage — it is the backbone of every pool lighting installation. The range covers 100 W, 300 W and 400 W ratings with 12 V and 24 V outputs across 13 models in total. Two housing types are available: classic air-cooled units and insulated units, so specifiers can match the transformer to plant-room ventilation, panel space and the number of fittings on the circuit.
Each unit is mounted in a black plastic enclosure with high dielectric strength and carries a fuse on the 220 V input. Windings are copper, which gives longer service life, a more stable output voltage and safe operation. The insulated series is offered in two variants — aluminium housing and copper-wound — so buyers can choose according to duty and installation conditions. Every model carries a product code in the TRF001–TRF013 range (TRF003 is not used), and because the code fixes both rating and output voltage, reordering, spares planning and after-sales support stay simple on multi-pool projects.
Transformer rating is set by the combined load of the fittings on one circuit. The PAR56 SMD LED fittings in our catalogue run at 35 W · 12 V AC, so as the number of lamps grows the selection moves from 100 W up to 300 W and 400 W — the rule being that total load must stay within the transformer rating. For single-colour fittings the transformer is ordered separately. Cable run matters as much as wattage: the catalogue includes a distance / voltage-drop chart for 300 W at 12 V / 220 V covering runs from 9 to 30 metres with 2×4 and 2×6 cable. Undersized cable on a long run dims the lamps, so cable and transformer should be selected together.
For colour-changing RGB fittings the transformer works alongside our own RGB modulator control units. They operate on 433 MHz radio frequency across 3 channels at up to 100 metres, offer 18 colour modes and work from -30 to +60 °C. Two-wire and four-wire versions are produced, with capacities up to 10 and 20 lamps. APPLICATION AREAS

- Powering 12 V underwater LED lighting circuits in residential pools. A single 100 W unit is usually enough for a small pool with a few fittings.

Can I control pool lights through this transformer with an RGB remote?+
Yes. The transformer is compatible with 433 MHz RF RGB control units, so color-changing PAR56 SMD LED fittings can be operated remotely as part of the same low-voltage lighting circuit.
Where should a pool lighting transformer be installed?+
In a dry, ventilated space such as the pool plant room, typically inside or next to the control panel, and never in areas exposed to water. Installation should follow local electrical regulations and be carried out by a qualified electrician.
What wattage transformer does my pool need?+
The transformer is selected from the 100 W, 300 W and 400 W options so that it covers the combined load of the fittings on one circuit. Our PAR56 SMD LED fittings draw 35 W at 12 V AC, so multiplying the number of lamps by 35 W gives the total load, which must stay below the rating you choose. Send us the pool dimensions and the planned number of lamps and we will size it with you.
Should I choose a 12 V or a 24 V transformer?+
The choice follows the operating voltage of the fittings — our PAR56 SMD LED units run at 12 V AC. The range includes both 12 V and 24 V output models; the 24 V option gives an alternative where voltage drop over a long cable run is a concern. Transformer and fitting voltage must always match.
What is the difference between copper-wound and aluminium units?+
In our range the insulated transformers are offered both with an aluminium housing and as a copper-wound series, while the classic units are all copper-wound. Copper windings give longer life, a more stable output and safer operation, which is why they are preferred in commercial pools that run continuously. Tell us the duty cycle and we will advise which series fits.
What is the difference between a classic (air-cooled) and an insulated transformer?+
Classic units are air-cooled and suit ventilated plant rooms, while the insulated type has an additionally insulated body for different installation conditions. Both are mounted in a black plastic enclosure with high dielectric strength and carry a fuse on the 220 V input. Share your panel layout and ventilation conditions and we will recommend the right type.
Why do cable length and cross-section matter?+
If the cross-section is too small on a long run, voltage drops and the lamps dim — a cabling issue, not a transformer fault. Our catalogue includes a distance / voltage-drop chart for 300 W at 12 V / 220 V with 2×4 and 2×6 cable, covering runs from 9 to 30 metres. Cable sizing and transformer selection should always be done together.
Can a transformer be retrofitted to an existing pool?+
Yes. The transformer sits in the plant room at the head of the lighting circuit, so no work on the pool structure is needed and it can be replaced without draining the pool. If you are converting from halogen to LED, the total load usually drops and the transformer should be resized accordingly. Just send us the existing fitting type and quantity.
Do colour-changing RGB lights need a separate control unit?+
Yes. The transformer supplies the fittings at low voltage; colour changes are handled by the RGB modulator control unit.
